Get Up There for Colorectal Cancer

Participants will be hiking from 12-4 the following route to raise money for Get Up There, a public awareness movement, fundraiser and event. For the last 12 years, we have raised over $750,000 to support the awareness for fight against colorectal cancer, purchase equipment to aid in early detection, outfit a third endoscopy suite with specialized equipment and fund the promotion of Nova Scotia's world class colorectal cancer screening program: Beginning at the Halifax Convention Centre Up Sackville Street to Citadel Hill Around Citadel Hill via Sackville Street Exit Citadel Hill via Rainnie Drive and use crosswalk to go down Carmichael Street through Grand Parade Cross Lower Water Street to Prince Street Down Prince Street to Halifax Boardwalk Across the Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk to the Wave Up Sackville Street to Halifax Convention Centre to complete loop As we prepare for the thirteenth annual event, which will take place on Friday April 9, 2021 in Halifax beginning at noon, we’ll climb the city to the top of Citadel Hill and fight for Nova Scotians facing colorectal cancer. This year, proceeds raised by GUT participants will go towards advancing colorectal screening capacity and the opening of the third endoscopy suite at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Opening of this third suite would mean reducing wait times and increase capacity for colonoscopies by over 200% a week! Because early detection is critical in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer, this increase will help the Dartmouth General Hospital save lives.
